I don’t remember what my first Ghibli film was except that it was one of these three: Kiki’s Delivery Service, Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away. What I do remember is that all three were absolutely lovely and had a strange charm that seems to draw so many people in.
Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation studio based in Tokyo, Japan. The studio is best known for its anime feature films. Studio Ghibli began in June 1985 after the success of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind with funding by Tokuma Shoten. The company’s logo features the character Totoro (a large forest spirit) from Miyazaki’s film My Neighbor Totoro. The studio has produced nineteen feature films, several short films, television commercials and a television film.
This summer, I’ve decided to watch all the Ghibli films I possibly can. And I’m excited to share this journey, here on my blog. I will be watching one film per day (hopefully). The films I have already seen (the three I mentioned in the beginning) I shall watch in the end. So, here’s to nineteen days of whimsical creatures, spirits and Ghibli.
Here’s a list of the films I will be watching: (I’ll be ticking them off as I watch)
My Neighbor Totoro
Castle in the Sky
Grave of the Fireflies
Whisper of the Heart
My Neighbors the Yamadas
The Cat Returns
Tales from Earthsea
From Up On Poppy Hill
The Wind Rises
The Tales of Princess Kaguya
Exams are over and I can finally relax. Let’s start off with this mini book I made for a friend about a month ago. The sticker on top reminded me of her and makes the perfect embellishment for it. I didn’t cut out an accordion book this time because I did this very late at night and was worried about whether the folds would be perfectly aligned or not. So I simply cut out 3×3″ of paper and joined them together with washi.
Will be back with more books and projects. Currently on a TV show watching spree.🙂
My exams aren’t over yet, but I thought I’d just pop in and update a bit, since I have a while before my next exam and its Maths anyway. I made this little mini book about a month or so ago for a friend. She and I are going to the same school for A levels, and this was just a way to start our journey – on a good note. We weren’t exactly friends in my current school, but hopefully, being with her in A levels will make us lovely friends. i look forward to spending more time with her. She’s such a lovely person.
So, without further ado, here are a few pictures of the little mini. It’s a simple accordion fold and was literally made in like, half an hour.
Hope you liked it! There is another little book I made, similar to this one, for another friend who will be with me in my new school. Will share later this week!
My exams start tomorrow so needless to say, I am pretty stressed out and worried 24/7. They last till the 3rd of June, so no more posts till then! But after that, FREEDOM. For three months and then school again in September. That will be a weird thing because I start my A levels and so it’ll be a new school with new people and new rules and FEWER SUBJECTS! (probably the best thing).
I am pretty busy but I thought I’d just drop in a random post to recap the months that I haven’t posted. I haven’t been doing much – just studying and the craft stuff is on hold. I was so sad I missed NSD ’14 and will be missing it for two more years because of exam period in May but I hope to join the club after that!
#1. I made an instagram friend, thechaifiles, who is a super sweet person who lives in Islamabad. She was in Singapore recently and sent me these lovely goodies. I had a school exam that day and her package simply made my day!
#2. My friend’s birthday was on the 26th April. Usually I do something really big for her but this time I was too busy studying and so didn’t have time. Made her a card though.
#3. My cats just keep multiplying. I currently have seventeen. Or maybe that was when I last counted them. Whoops.
#4. I have so many sea boxes on order for after exams. Sea boxes are basically origami boxes with a decorated top and beach sand, shells and a message in a bottle inside. Hopefully, will get onto this after exams.
Anyway, hope to catch up after exams. See you soon.
So what I figure is that I really need to figure out how to cover up the front without making it seem weird by leaving out the narrow strip where the binding is. Should I maybe spray paint the cover first with a colour that will blend into the cover sheet? But I don’t have that many spray paint colours. Oh well, I’ll figure something out.
Started using my new stash on the same day I got it. This has never happened before! It usually takes me around a week or so (or even more) to start using things because first I have to get out of the ‘Oh my god, it’s so pretty!’ phase. But I had to make thank you cards for the people who helped get my things to Pakistan, and I wanted to use pretty things. Hence the absent ‘pretty’ phase!
New goodies to play with! I get a crafty high from looking at stash pictures so these two might be my favourites ever. I got lots of 6×6 paper pads since I make so many mini albums, a Daily Grind alpha sheet which had lots of alphabet choices and cute phrases, some tiny wooden pegs (squee!) and my very first washi tape and very first wood veneer (Studio Calico cameras). Also a few Dear Lizzy and Amy Tangerine products, doilies and Printshop adhesive badges.
